A small plane crashed into a Philadelphia neighborhood Friday, prompting first responders to declare multiple casualties.

Two people were allegedly aboard the plane that went down in Northeast Philadelphia Friday evening, with reports claiming it may have hit several cars and buildings.
“Multiple homes are on fire in the area of Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard following the crash, fire officials said,” reported CBS News.
Footage posted to social media from a home surveillance camera showed an explosion brightly flashing in the distance.

The Learjet 55 reportedly departed from Northeast Philadelphia Airport shortly before it crashed.

“Fire officials are calling for a mass casualty response in the area of Cottman Boulevard near the Roosevelt Mall,” reported KYW Newsradio.
It’s unclear what led to the crash.
The aviation incident comes on the heels of a tragic mid-air collision in Washington DC Wednesday that left 67 dead.
