Norwegians, who have been quick to adopt online and digital solutions, may see their mail delivered only once a week if the government has its way.

AFP reports: Transport and Communications Minister Jon-Ivar Nygard proposed reducing the frequency of postal deliveries Friday from every other day to once a week.
“We receive fewer and fewer letters in the mail and fewer and fewer newspapers are distributed,” he said.
If parliament backs his proposal, mail would be distributed once a week and newspapers “at least” three times a week.
Those who want to have more frequent mail deliveries would be able to request that.
The measure would save the state more than a billion kroner (almost $100 million) a year, the Labour government said.
The volume of letters delivered has fallen by more than 80 percent since the beginning of the millennium, Norway’s postal service Posten Bring said in 2023. Last year it declined another 11.4 percent.
