Texans who have lost their homes, their children, and even their lives in the devastating floods sweeping the state are getting what they deserve, according to Barbra Streisand — who described the tragedy as karma for voting Republican.
While most Americans are offering prayers and relief for the victims of the deadly Texas floods, actress-turned-climate-alarmist Barbra Streisand has taken a different approach.
In a now-viral post on Bluesky, the Hollywood icon appeared to suggest the people of Texas had it coming—blaming the victims of the disaster for their state’s political decisions and describing the floods as a form of karma.
“The horror of these killer tornados and flash floods killing Americans should redouble our efforts to slow climate change and increase the National Weather Service enhanced warning systems,” she wrote. “Instead this Administration is heading us in the opposite direction,” Streisand wrote on Monday, prompting immediate backlash from grieving families and even some of her own fans.
Rather than offering sympathy for those mourning loved ones—including parents who lost children in the flash floods—Streisand used the tragedy to score political points, once again lashing out at former President Donald Trump and Republican-led states.
This isn’t Streisand’s first foray into politicizing natural disasters. In 2019, she infamously cited a hailstorm in Guadalajara and a heatwave in Paris as evidence that Trump should be removed from office, tweeting:
“Climate change is here now and it is time for voters to remove the climate deniers from office. Starting with Trump.”
Earlier this year, she blamed high winds and wildfires in Los Angeles on climate change, posting:
“These horrible winds I think are the strongest we’ve ever experienced and a lot of that is due to climate change which this coming government better address!”
Critics say Streisand’s latest comments cross the line from political opinion into heartless cruelty, especially as the families of dead children in Texas continue to recover their loved ones’ bodies from floodwaters.
Whether it’s 114 degrees in Paris, snow in Mexico, or deadly storms in Texas, Streisand seems less concerned with the victims than with reminding everyone that she—an entertainer by trade—is on the “right side” of climate history.
For many, that arrogance now rings especially hollow.
