Мировые новости: Украина нанесла удар по ключевому нефтяному терминалу в Феодосии, Крым

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Ukraine successfully launched a missile strike on the Feodosia oil terminal in Crimea, a crucial supply hub for the Russian military. The attack, which occurred overnight, has been confirmed by the Ukrainian General Staff, who reported no immediate casualties but noted a fire at the facility. This strike represents a strategic move in Ukraine's ongoing efforts to undermine Russia's military capabilities in the region, particularly as the conflict continues to intensify.

Ukraine successfully hit Russia’s Feodosia oil terminal in Crimea with a missile strike, the largest oil terminal in Crimea, which was considered a key military target. The oil depot was responsible for supplying fuel to the Russian army.

“At night, we carried out a successful strike on the enemy’s sea oil terminal in the temporarily occupied Feodosia,” the Ukrainian General Staff said, according to a report by the Unian news agency. Currently, no casualties from the blast have been reported.

“A fire was detected near the facility. Clarification of the consequences of the strike is underway,” the statement said.

“Measures aimed at undermining the military and economic potential of the Russian Federation continue,” the statement read.

Footage on social media showed smoke rising over the targeted terminal, with the local Russian news outlet, RIA Novosti, reporting that efforts were being made to extinguish the blaze.

Russia’s defense ministry announced that 12 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Crimea out of a total of 21. The same terminal was hit in a Ukrainian strike in March.

Russia illegally annexed the Crimean peninsula in 2014.

Russia has also been active in striking key infrastructure in Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said in June that at least 80 percent of Ukraine’s thermal power and one-third of its hydroelectric power generation were destroyed due to Russian attacks. According to experts, the country faces a long and dark winter that will test the Ukrainian population’s resolve.

As of October 2023, tensions remain high following this latest strike, with Russia's defense ministry reporting the interception of multiple Ukrainian drones over Crimea. The broader conflict continues to see both sides targeting critical infrastructure, with Ukraine's energy resources particularly vulnerable to Russian attacks, leaving the population bracing for a challenging winter.
