reached 790,245 cases, the highest since 2012. Compared to 2022, there
were 88,079 more crimes, an increase of 12.5 percent. A record was set
with 2,979 federal police officers attacked, according to the Federal
Police's current annual report on Monday. About every second attacker
did not have a German passport.

were able to prevent illegal entries into Germany in 127,549 cases .
From mid-October last year, the Interior Ministry introduced controls at
the borders with the Czech Republic, Poland and Switzerland. In the
following two and a half months, officials registered 18,930 illegal
entries and were able to arrest 440 people smugglers.
In addition, the number of deportations rose by 17.2 percent to 21,206 cases last year. Nevertheless, more than half of the planned returns (60 percent) still fail.
Faeser wants to strengthen the federal police
Property crimes also increased. In total, the Federal Police registered 140,868 cases of fraudulent use of services - mostly fare dodging - which corresponds to an increase of 7.3 percent compared to the previous year. Pickpocketing increased even more significantly. Last year, the Federal Police registered 27,849 cases of this - an increase of 16.4 percent.
In addition, the number of deportations rose by 17.2 percent to 21,206 cases last year. Nevertheless, more than half of the planned returns (60 percent) still fail.
