Civil rights attorney Leo Terrell has celebrated the news that U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky has submitted her resignation.
Walensky announced Friday that she has submitted her resignation to Democrat President Joe Biden.
She will be leaving her post effective June 30.
No interim director has yet been named.
Many have welcomed the news that the embattled top health official is stepping down, however.
Terrell, a regular Fox News contributor, took to Twitter to remind the public why Walensky had to go.

In her resignation letter, Walensky reportedly expressed “mixed feelings” about the decision.
However, she didn’t explain exactly why she was stepping down.
Walensky said the nation is at a moment of transition after the World Health Organization (WHO) announced this week that the Covid emergency is now officially over.
“I have never been prouder of anything I have done in my professional career,” Walensky claimed in the letter.
Biden issued a statement in response to receiving the letter.
Walensky “leaves CDC a stronger institution, better positioned to confront health threats and protect Americans,” Biden said.
However, Jennifer Nuzzo, a pandemic expert at the Brown University School of Public Health, is worried that the agency could delve into chaos without Walensky at the helm.
Nuzzo explained that the “CDC is exhausted.
“They have been working around the clock, nonstop, for three years with little gratitude.
“To have a leadership change in the midst of all that …
“I can’t imagine that doesn’t take the wind out of the sails of change.”
